Quick, easy and perfect for toddlers.
- 1 x 400g tinned chopped tomatoes
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- Half tsp dried mixed herbs
- Quarter tsp ground cumin
- Pinch of ground black pepper
- 1 pack of 6 pittas – white or wholemeal
- 40g medium Cheddar cheese – grated
- 1-2 tbsp tomato sauce base
- 1 pitta – white or wholemeal
- Handful of medium Cheddar cheese – grated
1. Lay all of the pittas on a foil-covered baking tray and distribute the sauce evenly between all six. Then sprinkle over the cheese and place them under a hot grill until the cheese has melted and is bubbling. Remove from the grill, cut into long strips. Allow cooling before serving to baby and friends.
2. One serving: It is more convenient to cook up a big batch of tomato sauce base in one go rather than cooking it for one serving, so follow same method as above, and freeze the remaining sauce into individual servings.
Tip: add mushrooms, sweetcorn and bell peppers and transform this finger food into a quick and filling after school snack for older children.
