Yonder Brewing & Blending, the modern farmhouse brewery based in Somerset’s Mendip Hills, is launching a limited-edition seasonal beer . The new brew, called Mrs Patterson, is a tribute to the iconic mother from the popular alternative comedy TV series Harry Enfield & Chums. The launch coincides with the 30th anniversary of the series and celebrates its characters’ enduring appeal, which has stood the test of time.
Mrs Patterson (Kevin’s mum, of course), makes a delicious pear and blackberry crumble, with a hint of ginger and the slightest touch of vanilla. The new beer is a pastry sour combining all those elements, and is perfectly balanced in sweetness and acidity. Sweet British conference pears and hand-picked wild blackberries? Yes, Mrs Patterson!
Locally sourced
Like the rest of Yonder’s range, the new beer uses local and foraged ingredients. This showcases the incredible variety of flavours available on Yonder’s doorstep while also minimising food miles. Mrs Patterson is available in 440ml cans, with an RRP of £6 per can.
Stuart Winstone, Founder of Yonder Brewing & Blending, says: “We are delighted to be launching Mrs Patterson which uses locally foraged ingredients from close to our modern farmhouse Somerset brewery.”
Paying tribute
“The new beer pays tribute to the character of the same name from the popular TV series Harry Enfield & Chums, with this year being its 30th anniversary. While it is a limited-edition beer, we hope it is an indication of what the future holds for Yonder. Like the show, we hope that in 30 years’ time Yonder will be an iconic British brand. And will still be able to surprise and delight its followers.
“This beer is not only full of character, but characters. You have the long-suffering mum, Mrs Patterson, with her delicious pear and blackberry crumble. There’s Kevin the wayward ginger son, and of course, Kevin’s friend Perry is referenced in the overtly pear-y flavour.”
