The historic farm of George Parsons, land manager for the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset Viscount Edward Portman, gets a new lease on life as Laguna Beach Californian Matt Miller and Local Stoke Sub Hamdon native James Jeffery discover a mission to fill their new home with education, community and wellbeing.
Rather than sitting in the hilltop estate overlooking the South Somerset countryside all alone , they seek to bring it to life with bijou events that celebrate local artisans in a luxurious space.
Among the creative workshops and well-being classes are intimate cookery courses in the newly restored Georgian Kitchen and Pantry. Matt is a French trained chef and formerly of the Four Seasons Hotel in Newport Beach. He brings his light and healthy Californian touch and a clever twist to a considered historical look at 15th and 16th century English recipes. The monthly fun and spirited cookery courses are followed by a wine tasting in the Drawing Room and “going through” to supper in the Formal Dining Room. Guests are also welcome to join for the Dinner Party evening minus the cooking course.
