“Life is too short for ordinary cheese” says Louise Keedwell-Wirtz, co- founder of L’affinage du Fromage’ a new Bristol-based online cheese shop. Now, lovers of fromage won’t have to look too far to get their fix thanks to the new online venture.
Louise and her partner Leo have been selling cheese at the popular Whiteladies Road Farmers Market for the past few years, with a cohort of loyal customers regularly queuing up to buy their fares. They source as many as thirty or so artisan cheeses from local and continental suppliers, and also have something unique for their shoppers to try.
“We both have cheese in our blood” says Louise, “I grew up on a dairy farm in South Gloucestershire and slept in a room that once matured the cheeses my Great, Great Grandparents made, I didn’t realise my destiny had already been set in the stars. My husband grew up surrounded by cheese his father sold on a cheese stall, deli and restaurant he owned in North Devon”.
L’affinage know many of their customers on a first name basis and it is this simplicity and commitment to quality service that seems to have already proven to be a hit at the marketplace. It is hoped that the new website will offer shoppers the same grounded conversations but with sumptuous photography and a fuss free experience.
