At Trewithen Dairy in the heart of the Glynn Valley, they have a saying: “healthy because it’s natural”. All of their dairy products – their milk, cream, butter and yoghurt – are kept as close as natural to possible, and there’s a huge focus on ensuring that those who buy Trewithen Dairy products know exactly where their dairy comes from, how it’s made, and what goes into each product.
The Clarke family have been making dairy products in the heart of the Glynn Valley since 1994, and everything was done themselves: milking their herd, bottling their milk, clotting their own cream and potting it by hand. As they’ve grown, Bill and Rachel have moved full time into producing great Cornish dairy products (with sons Francis and George now involved too), and while they no longer have their own herd, provenance is still vital to their ethos.
Trewithen Dairy work with 25 farmers, all within 25 miles of the dairy, buying every single drop of milk that those herds produce. They know all of their farmers perfectly, and they’re handpicked for their commitment to quality, and for the ways in which they manage their herds too. Their belief is that a healthy and happy cow produces better milk – and they’re all about quality. Keep an eye out for their brightly coloured trucks delivering milk to over 700 businesses across the South West!
